Matic Care runs in the browser. These are the settings that make recording reliable.
Browser
Use a current version of Chrome or Edge on Windows or Mac. Safari works on Mac for most tasks; dictation inside Magic Edit needs Chrome or Edge.
Keep Matic in a normal tab, not a pinned or background window that the computer may put to sleep. On desktop the window locks and only the page scrolls; that's expected.
Private or incognito windows forget the microphone permission every time; use a normal window.
Allow the microphone once
The first time you click Start recording, the browser asks for microphone access. Choose Allow (Chrome: Allow while visiting the site).
If you dismissed it, click the lock or tune icon left of the address bar, set Microphone to Allow, and reload.
If the recording bar says Check the microphone or Microphone disconnected, pick the right input in your computer's sound settings, then click Resume.
A recording that stops after a few seconds with "check the microphone permission for this tab" means the permission was denied for this site; fix it as above, then Resume or use Upload recording if you captured audio elsewhere.
Telehealth: capture the call audio
For video or audio-only visits, set the visit type under Visit settings and turn on Include computer call audio. The browser shows a share prompt; choose the tab or window with the call and tick Share audio. If the bar says Call audio isn't being captured, click Add call audio and tick the share-audio box. Your microphone keeps recording either way.
If the connection drops
Matic keeps recording on your device and shows Connection lost, still recording. Keep the page open. When the connection returns, the saved audio uploads and processes automatically. After 20 minutes offline, recording pauses to protect the audio already captured; reconnect and press Resume.
One recording at a time
You can record only one visit at once. If you open a second encounter you'll see This encounter is recording in another tab with the patient's name. Finish or pause that one, or choose Stop the other recording and record here. The recording chip in the top bar always shows which visit is live and lets you pause from anywhere.
Shared computers
Sign out (Settings → Account, or /logout) when you leave a shared workstation. Signing out also closes the support chat so the next person doesn't see your conversation.
