A few minutes of setup before your first visit means everything works the moment you walk into the room. Here's what to check.
1. Log in
Enter your username or email and your password, then click Log in. If your account uses Google, click Log in with Google.
The first time you log in, you'll see a welcome page. Fill in the short questions or click Skip, then click Go to Dashboard. From then on, Matic opens on your schedule.
Note: Forgot your password? Click Forgot password?, enter your email and click Send reset link.
2. Check your profile
Click the gear (Settings) at the far right of the top bar. On Profile, check your name, Credentials, Profession and Specialty.
3. Confirm athena is connected
Go to Settings → Account → Integrations. A connected account shows Manage Integration. If you see Integrate with EHR instead, contact your practice admin before your first clinic day.
4. Allow the microphone
Use Chrome on a computer with a working microphone or headset.
The first time you click Start recording, your browser asks to use the microphone. Choose Allow.
Tip: Turn on Show live transcript while recording in Settings → Language. Seeing words appear as you speak is the easiest way to confirm your mic is working.
Blocked the microphone by mistake? Click the icon to the left of the web address, set Microphone to Allow, then reload the page.
5. Pick your usual template
Open any visit, then Visit settings, and choose one of the four approved templates: Founder's Template, Narrative, Problem-oriented or Medicare Annual Wellness Visit. Founder's is what you get until you choose, and it reads as a few long paragraphs; Problem-oriented gives each problem its own Assessment & Plan section, which is closest to a traditional clinic note. Try one for half a morning and another for the other half, then settle on one. Wellness visits switch to the Medicare Annual Wellness Visit template on their own from the appointment type. Matic remembers your choice and suggests it next time. To teach Matic names and words it mishears, add them in Settings → Lexicon.
6. Know where help is
Click Support in the top bar. Chat with Mat, our support agent, first. It answers from these guides, and when something is wrong it files a ticket for you and tells you whether it is already a known bug or request. The help articles and your tickets are in the same window.
7. Know when Matic reads athena
Matic reads the chart at two moments, both triggered by your MA in athena: Done with Check-in (a full refresh of documents from the past 7 days; the patient becomes Ready for Staff) and Done with Intake (a final check of active medications, vitals and questionnaire screeners; the patient becomes Ready for Provider). Nothing entered after Done with Intake is read for that visit, so say it out loud or type it into the note. If Prep is still updating when you reach the room, give it a minute; it is picking up that last read while it starts your recording.
